On the road for the second time in as many weeks, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-2, 0-1 Big Rivers Conference) fell behind after an early touchdown from the Raiders (2-1, 1-0 BRC), but stayed within that margin throughout the first half.
A turnover deep in their own territory caused the Cards to fall behind by two scores early in the third quarter, but their defense held strong for the rest of the contest. A late surge by the Chi-Hi offense netted them their first points, but the home team recovered the ensuing onside kick to secure the victory in this Big Rivers opener.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior DB Jack Zwiefelhofer recorded his third interception of the young season, while fellow senior DB Carter Bowe made plays all over the field on defense. Senior QB Mason Von Haden pounded the ball on offense as the team's leading rusher, while also throwing for a touchdown and two-point conversion.
