9/29/17 Football: Chi-Hi 35, Eau Claire North 0

On homecoming night in Chippewa Falls, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (4-3, 3-2 Big Rivers Conference) battled injuries and their subsequent youthful roster, but took care of business against the Huskies (0-7, 0-5 BRC) to get over the .500 mark for the first time in 2017.


WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Senior RB Codie Meinen rushed for a trio of scores, while junior DL Rico DeLeon was a dominant force on the line, recording multiple tackles for loss, two forced fumbles, and a blocked punt.

9/22/17 Football: Chi-Hi 21, River Falls 14

On the road once again during a sweltering night underneath the lights, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (3-3, 2-2 Big Rivers Conference) found themselves down early against the talented but winless Wildcats (0-6, 0-4 BRC), but came up with big plays in all three phases to secure the victory and return to .500 on the season and in conference play.


WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Senior RB Codie Meinen surpassed the century mark in rushing yards, fellow senior DL Tristan Hable was a force on the interior, and senior LB Jared Woodhull led the team in tackles, recorded two passes defensed, and blocked a late second quarter punt that would prove to turn the tide in the game.

9/15/17 Football: Chi-Hi 10, Superior 7

On a chilly, blustery night in the north, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-3, 1-2 Big Rivers Conference) faced a Superior team that was also desperate for its first conference win and traded body blows with the Spartans (2-3, 0-3 BRC) in a back-and-forth first half before a balanced scoring drive to end the second quarter and a massive, clock-eating effort to begin the third.


WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Senior DL Tristan Hable was a dominant force for a Chi-Hi defense that recovered two fumbles, picked off Superior twice, and forced the Spartans to turn the ball over on downs multiple times.

Interview with USS Indianapolis Survivor Edgar Harrell




Greg Steward talked with 92 year old Edgar Harrell one of only 18 survivors remaining from the World War 2 Navy Cruiser USS Indianapolis. The "Indy" was torpedoed by a Japanese Submarine on July 30th,1945. Out of 1200 member crew only 317 survived the shark infested 4 and a half day ordeal in the Philippine Sea. Harrell now living in Tennessee joined Greg live on WWIB on 9/14/17 noon hour.

The Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-3, 0-2 Big Rivers Conference) stood toe-to-toe with a senior-laden, physical and skillful Memorial team that is receiving attention from around the state, but hurt their cause with two third quarter turnovers that led to the winning margin of 10 points for the Old Abes (4-0, 2-0 BRC).


WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Junior running back Matt Pomietlo put the team on his back during a critical third quarter drive, converting on a third and long, a fourth and short, and capping the drive with a 13-yard blast for a score.
