On the road once again, and trying to erase the sting of a lopsided loss on Homecoming, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-5, 1-4 Big Rivers Conference) marched right down the field against the Wildcats (5-2, 3-3 BRC), and scored the first touchdown of the night, before River Falls punched back with the next two scores and led 14-7 at the break.
In a back and forth affair that saw three 14-0 scoring runs but neither team ever take the lead by more than seven points, Chi-Hi sparked a sensational comeback in the second half, but fell just short of victory.

Six different players scored a total of nine TD's for the Macks. Back at Dorais for Homecoming and fresh off their first conference victory, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-4, 1-3 Big Rivers Conference) went three and out on their first two possessions against the unbeaten and state-ranked Tigers (6-0, 4-0 BRC), who quickly staked themselves to a 12-0 advantage.
The Cards hoped to find a spark with a long touchdown run in the second quarter, but simply could not stop the New Richmond attack, as the Tigers only punted once and dominated time of possession throughout the contest.

After three setbacks in a row, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-3, 1-2 Big Rivers Conference) made the short road-trip south to face the resurgent Huskies (3-2, 2-1 BRC), who were winners of three straight and in a four-way tie for first place in the Big Rivers.
Sparked by a defensive touchdown in the opening minute, Chi-Hi staked themselves a 17-0 advantage, but a resilient North team continued to battle back, coming as close as seven points down the stretch as momentum see-sawed between both squads. In the end, splash plays on special teams made the difference, as the Cards notched their first conference win of 2023.
For the first time in three weeks McDonell Central(4-0, 1-0) didn't need to come from behind in winning at Bruce, 47-12.
After leading 14-6 at the half, the Macks scored the first three TD's of the second half in extending their lead to 34-6 on their way to the win.
Next up for the Macks is their 1pm Homecoming game vs. Cornell Sept. 23rd at Dorais Field, with a 12:35 pre-game on WOGO Sports.

On Veterans Night and back at home at Dorais for the first time in three weeks, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-3, 0-2 Big Rivers Conference) struggled to match up in the trenches with the state-ranked Mustangs (4-0, 2-0 BRC), who scored on all three of their drives in the first half.
In the third quarter, however, the Cards forced two empty possessions by the Menomonie, and pulled within one score of their opponent twice in the second half. After the Cards cut the deficit to eight midway through the fourth, the Mustangs capped off a strong and balanced offensive performance with a game-ending drive that killed well over 6 minutes of clock and left Chippewa Falls winless in conference play.
Off the field, Chi-Hi's 11th Annual Veterans Night was an unquestioned success, kicking off a drive for warm winter clothing items for homeless veterans and providing over $2,500 in donations during the "Miracle Minute."
