On the road against the defending Big Rivers champs, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-2, 0-1 Big Rivers Conference) overcame an early 14-0 deficit, marching toward a potential tying touchdown at the end of the first half.
The defense of the Tigers (3-0, 1-0 BRC), however, was up to the challenge, halting the Cards' in the red zone to preserve the lead, and then garnering two fumble recoveries early in the second half, leading to 14 unanswered points and propelling New Richmond to a home victory.
Senior Jaylyn Smith piled up the all-purpose yards as he continued to make plays in all three phases of the game, including a 55-yard romp for a touchdown and an absolute circus catch down the sideline..
