9/18/26 Football: River Falls 14, Chippewa Falls, 0

 River Falls(3-2, 3-0 Big Rivers Conference) extended their winning streak to three downing Chippewa Falls(3-2, 1-2), 14-0. 

While the Cards did block two punts they were never able to turn any breaks into points.  Meanwhile,the Wildcats defense was incredibly stingy in holding Chi High's terrific running attack to under 100 yards.

9/11/26 Football: New Richmond 14, Chippewa Falls 7

In a battle of Big Rivers unbeatens, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (3-1, 1-1 Big Rivers Conference) visited New Richmond for a big early season test.

The Tigers (4-0, 2-0 BRC) moved the ball down the field for an early score, but a key interception turning into 7 points helped the Cards stay within striking distance at the break.

There would be no scoring in the second half, however, as each defense came up with some crucial stops and Chi-Hi's final drive fell short.

9/4/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 44, Menomonie 7

In one of the state's longest-running rivalries, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (3-0, 1-0 Big Rivers Conference) hosted Menomonie the conference opener, on a beautiful Veterans Night at Dorais Field.

The Mustangs (0-3, 0-1 BRC) moved the ball early, but hurt themselves with penalties and turnovers, before punching in a score as the clock expired to end the first half.

That would prove to be the only points of the night for the visitors, however, as the Cardinals' defense completely stifled the ground game and the Chi-Hi offense found its groove.

Senior Tyler Behnke tallied a hat trick of TDs on the night from the fullback position, also easily eclipsing the century mark in rushing yards.

9/3/26 Football: Spring Valley 44, McDonell Macks 42

    The Macks(0-1,1-20 lost their conference opener to visiting Spring Valley(1-0, 2-1), 44-42. Following a 14-all tie in the 1st half, the Macks put up the first 20 points after intermission on their way to a 34-14 lead, but the Cardinals rallied back outscoring McDonell 30-8 the rest of the way. 

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Both of the Macks Senior WR's really stood out in this one, with Luke Anderson catching four passes for 178 yards and two more TD's, while Isaac Crawford caught eight balls for 118 yards and two TD's of his own.

8/27/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 42, Eau Claire Memorial 6

On the road against a longtime rival, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) looked to keep the momentum going after putting up 50 points in Week 1.

The Old Abes (0-2, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) struggled to move the ball for most of the night, as the Chi-Hi defense made life difficult, even as reserves started to filter into the game in the second half.

Offensively, despite a few drive-impairing penalties, the Cardinals' rushing game rolled once again, garnering 470+ yards on the ground for the second consecutive week.

Senior Gavin Shilts averaged over 22 yards per carry in an electric first half performance, including a 55-yard touchdown dash.

8/21/26 Football: Eau Claire Regis 59, McDonell Macks 12

  The Macks(0-1) struck first on a 77-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Boggess to Luke Anderson. Then after three Regis(1-0) TD's put the Ramblers up 21-6 Anderson pulled the Macks within nine when he and Boggess combined a 62-yard TD pass. The Ramblers went on to score the final 38 points of the night on their way to a 59-12 victory.

Senior Luke Anderson shone brightly catching five passes for 195 yards, including two TD passes of 77 and 62 yards.

8/20/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 50, DC Everest 22

Ready to begin their 2026 campaign, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) opened up the year with a non-conference matchup, hoping to take their third in a row from DC Everest.

The Evergreens (0-1, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) garnered a turnover on the first play from scrimmage, but Chi-Hi answered with 25 straight points, setting the tone for the night.

Consistent defense that took advantage of miscues, strong play in the trenches, and a host of contributions from a backfield that rushed for well over 400 yards helped the Cards reach the half century mark in front of a jubilant home crowd at Dorais Field.

Senior Talen Shilts led the way on offense, rushing for 3 scores on the night, while junior Ryan Zenner was an absolute force on D.

6/4/26 Playoff Softball, WIAA Division 1 Sectional Final: #5 Marshfield Lady Tigers 11, #2 Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 0

    Marshfield(18-8) scored three runs in the top of the first and tallied runs in five of the game's six innings on their way to an 11-0 six inning win over Chippewa Falls(19-9).

6/2/26, Playoff Softball, WIAA Sectional Semifinal: #2 Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 5, #3 Holmen Lady Vikings 2

   Chippewa Falls(19-8) advanced to the Division 1 Sectional Final with a 5-2 win over Holmen(18-9). Laney Henkelman's rbi single scored Georgia Romanowski giving the Cards a 1-0 lead in the third. Chi High plated two more in the fifth and sixth.

Meanwhile Willa Risinger struck out ten in 6 2/3 innings and Delany Bero secured the save by striking out Holmen's Kaylee Mosser with two runners on to end the game.

5/28/26 Playoff Softball, WIAA Division 1 Regional Final: #2 Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 12, #7 New Richmond Lady Tigers 0

  Willa Risinger got the win and the game-winning two-run homer as the Cards(18-8) won 12-0 and advanced to Tuesday's Sectional semi-final. Risinger and Delaney Bero combined on a five-inning, one-hitter in shutting out New Richmond(12-10). 

Risinger, who struck out five, only allowed a single in the first. Bero retired the only three batters she faced in the 5th, including getting a strikeout to close out the game.

5/26/26 Playoff Softball, WIAA Division 4 Regional Semi-Final: #1 McDonell Lady Macks 12, #9 Eau Claire Regis 1 (5 inn.)

Squaring off against Regis for the third time this season, the Lady Macks (19-6-1, 12-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) took advantage of early miscues by the Ramblers (1-17, 0-14 WCC), and jumped out to a lead they would hold for good.

Ella Amodt's took advantage of an error for an inside-the-park homer that scored three, and Claire Ruf hit a three-run shot in the second.

Junior pitcher Kelsey Bremness struck out four with no walks, looking calm and controlled despite the heat.

5/21/26 Baseball: Chippewa Falls 5, Menomonie 2

 The five runs the Cards(20-3, 9-2) put up in the third proved to be all they needed in downing Menomonie(10-12. 4-8), 5-2, to win their 13th game in a row.

Sam Bresina pitched possibly his best game of the season in striking out five and walking none over 6 1/3 innings before Evan Weiler came in to get the final two outs and secure the save.

5/19/26 Softball: Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 4, Eau Claire North 3

In their conference finale, the Lady Cards (17-7, 13-1 Big Rivers Conference) surrendered two leads to the young and talented Huskies (12-11, 5-9 BRC), who twice came back to tie, but Chi-Hi scored a late run in the 6th and shut the door in the 7th to garner the win and season sweep.

Senior pitcher Willa Risinger capped off the win with two strong innings of relief. Junior third baseman McKenna Benish went 3-for-3 on the night, while junior DP Laney Henkelmann and senior catcher Lauren Shepherd each picked up a pair of hits, with Henkelmann driving in two and Shepherd bringing in the winning run.

5/18/26 Softball: Chippewa Falls 4, Eau Claire North 1

  Some clutch hitting in the 6th and stellar defense in the bottom of the 7th, combined with the 10-strikeout pitching of Willa Risinger, propelled the Chippewa Falls(16-7, 12-1) to a 4-1 win over Eau Claire North(9-9, 5-7) and their 19th Big Rivers conference championship in the past 27 years.

5/16/26 Softball: Kimberly 2, Chippewa Falls 0; Chippewa Falls 2, Watertown 0

 Kimberly(15-7) rode a game-winning HR from UW-commit, Sophie Hermus, to a 2-0 win over Chippewa Falls(14-7) in the first game of the day, despite a great pitching performance from the Cards' UW-Eau Claire commit, Willa Risinger.

In game two Delaney Bero two-hit Watertown(11-8) and the Cards(15-7) rode Gracie Amundson's 2nd-inning RBI single to a 2-0 win of their own.

5/14/26 Softball: Stanley-Boyd 9, McDonell Lady Macks 4

In a winner-take-all battle for the conference crown, the Lady Macks (15-6-1, 12-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) grabbed two runs early against the Orioles (16-1, 13-1 WCC), but struggled to garner base runners during the remainder of the contest.

Stanley-Boyd broke through with a 5-run inning in the fourth to take the lead for good, and McDonell's late comeback bid was stymied.

Junior Lizzy Leibrandt laced a 2-run double in the first, for one of the Lady Macks' four hits on the night.

5/9/26 Softball: Tomah 2, Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 0; DC Everest 2, Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 1.

In a possible playoff preview, the Lady Cards (12-6) gave up a lone early run to the Timberwolves (13-3), and that proved to be the difference, as Chi-Hi struggled to garner baserunners against University of Wisconsin commit Anna Wall.

In the second game of the day, the Cardinals were able to get a few more aboard against the Evergreens, but could not capitalize, with a late homer by Everest proving to be the difference.

Against Tomah, senior pitcher Willa Risinger came into the game in relief in the third and proceeded to strike out a dozen Timberwolves, while junior pitcher Delaney Bero started her first game of the season against D.C. Everest and went the distance, striking out 11 along the way.

5/7/26 Softball: McDonell Lady Macks 6, Augusta 0

In a possible playoff preview, in Augusta against a state-ranked opponent, the Lady Macks (13-4, 11-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) grabbed two runs early against the Beavers (13-2, 10-0 Dairyland - Large Conference), and were able to hold their opponent at bay for the rest of the contest.

As both pitchers found their groove, offense was hard to come by, but fireworks in the fifth and seventh helped McDonell pull away for good.

Junior pitcher Kelsey Bremness not only twirled a complete game shutout, she also hit a pair of homers and drove in 5 runs. Freshman Taylan Hanson collected three hits from the leadoff spot, and also swiped three bases.
