          Eau Claire County Families Mourn the Death of Dolly Parton--Jennifer Eddy, the Executive Director of The Family Resource Center at Oakwood Mall tells us how children & families in Eau Claire are grieving the passing of Dolly Parton as more than 70-thousand books have been delivered locally since 2022 through her Imagination Library program. We also hear from Eau Claire author, Katie Venit, whose first book, "Fort," was chosen by the program and sent out to 700-thousand kids. 

Plus, Toni Mattson of Trinity Equestian Center talks about international speaker, Paul Butler, coming to their Sept. 12th "Strength Through Service Summit." Finally, Apple Pregnancy Care Center Executive Director, Mackenzie Jensen, fills us in on their Apple "Walk for Life" the same day at Owen Park in Eau Claire.

8/27/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 42, Eau Claire Memorial 6

On the road against a longtime rival, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) looked to keep the momentum going after putting up 50 points in Week 1.

The Old Abes (0-2, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) struggled to move the ball for most of the night, as the Chi-Hi defense made life difficult, even as reserves started to filter into the game in the second half.

Offensively, despite a few drive-impairing penalties, the Cardinals' rushing game rolled once again, garnering 470+ yards on the ground for the second consecutive week.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Gavin Shilts averaged over 22 yards per carry in an electric first half performance, including a 55-yard touchdown dash.

8/23/26 CVTW: Aylen Bain Sherman Creek Memorial Dedication

                                                              Chippewa Valley This Week

          A new set of interpretive signs along the trails of Sherman Creek Park in the Eau Claire county Town of Union were unveiled August 21st as a lasting memorial for Aylen Bain, an Altoona High School graduate who died unexpectedly in 2024 while a first-year student at UW-Madison. Aylen's remembered as a nature lover who grew up near Sherman Creek Park, a 30-acre woodland featuring walking trails and bridges crossing Sherman Creek, which meanders through the park. You'll hear an interview with Jen Bain, Aylen's mom and a 4th-grade teacher in the Altoona School District. From Friday's dedication ceremony you'll from Bain; Barb Kleist, chair of the Town of Union Park Commission; Abbie Statz; Dean Kallenbach, Vice Chair of theTown of Union Park Commission; retired Science teacher, Scott Thiel; and Sherman Creek Elementary School Principal, Alicia Kirkman. 

Plus, Toni Mattson tells us about Tracy Latourrette, Colorado's first female fighter pilot, and the keynote speaker for Trinity Equestrian Center's "Strength in Service Summit" Sept. 12th at The Eau Claire Event District.

8/21/26 Football: Eau Claire Regis 59, McDonell Macks 12

  The Macks(0-1) struck first on a 77-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Boggess to Luke Anderson. Then after three Regis(1-0) TD's put the Ramblers up 21-6 Anderson pulled the Macks within nine when he and Boggess combined a 62-yard TD pass. The Ramblers went on to score the final 38 points of the night on their way to a 59-12 victory.

8/20/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 50, DC Everest 22

Ready to begin their 2026 campaign, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) opened up the year with a non-conference matchup, hoping to take their third in a row from DC Everest.

The Evergreens (0-1, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) garnered a turnover on the first play from scrimmage, but Chi-Hi answered with 25 straight points, setting the tone for the night.

Consistent defense that took advantage of miscues, strong play in the trenches, and a host of contributions from a backfield that rushed for well over 400 yards helped the Cards reach the half century mark in front of a jubilant home crowd at Dorais Field.

Senior Talen Shilts led the way on offense, rushing for 3 scores on the night, while junior Ryan Zenner was an absolute force on D.

         Two Stories on this week's show--we begin by hearing from the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce's newly announced President and Chief Executive Officer, Ashley De Muth, along with incoming Board Chair, Tracey Smiskey. For the past six and a half years De Muth, of Colfax, has served as CEO of the Menomonie Area Chamber & Visitor Center. She'll succeed the Eau Claire Chamber's current President & CEO, David Minor.

Also, Trinity Equestrian Center Co-Founder, Toni Mattson, looks ahead to their second annual "Strength in Service Summit" Sept. 12th at the Eau Claire Event District.           Again this year WWIB and WOGO are trying to raise as much support as possible for backpack and school supply distributions both in the Chippewa Valley and in Liberia, West Africa. We hear from  We Care Eau Claire Volunteer Coordinator, Julie Smith; Valley Vineyard Church Pastors, Mike and Trisha Houle; and Teamwork Africa Executive Director, Peggy Halvorsen. The $6300 from our generous business sponsors, and all the money raised through Friday from our listeners, is divided evenly among these three organizations to provide for backpacks, school supplies, and even the necessary black dress shoes as well in Liberia.
