2/29/24 WIAA Division 4 Basketball Sectional Semi-Final: #1 McDonell Lady Macks 78, #2 Phillips 46

On the road at a neutral site for their first Sectional game, the Lady Macks (25-2, 13-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out of the gates firing against the Loggers (24-3, 15-1 Marawood North Conference), who struggled to find a rhythm offensively against McDonell's relentless D.

The Lady Macks took a 24-point lead into the locker room at the break and never gave up control in the second half, continuing to maintain and even stretch their advantage. Four players scored in double figures, two had 20+ point nights, and McDonell rolled into a rematch with Fall Creek in Saturday's Sectional final.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior center Aubrey Dorn absolutely controlled the paint throughout the game, grabbing rebound after rebound and scoring a game-high (and her season high) 25 points. Freshman guard EllaMay Cooper was brilliant both from beyond the arc and the free throw line, tallying 22 on the night, while senior point guard Emily Cooper was the consummate floor general and scored 13. Fellow senior guard Isabel Hartman was also very impressive as she contributed her own season-high in scoring, finishing with 12 points.

2/27/24 WIAA Division 4 Basketball Regional Quarterfinal: #6 McDonell Macks 68, #11 Boyceville 65

In what was presumably their final home game of the season, the Macks (16-9 8-6 Western Cloverbelt Conference) scored the game's first 7 points, before the veteran Bulldogs (12-13, 6-8 Dunn-St. Croix Conference), stormed back to take the lead. A highly entertaining, back-and-forth first half ended with a McDonell flurry that put them ahead by two at the break.

The second half was much the same, as McDonell built up another three possession lead, only to see it slip away in the game's final minutes. That opened the door, however, for some fireworks at the buzzer, as the Macks vaulted themselves into the next round of the tournament.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore forward Karson Galvez poured in 13 points in the second half and paced the team with 19, while junior guard Jordan Sikora was Mr. Reliable, scoring eight in each half to finish with 16. Junior guard Cooper Mittermeyer knocked in four threes and tallied 14 points, while sophomore guard Cale Holm was the fourth McDonell player in double figures, ending with 11 after the game's final, thrilling moment.

2/24/24 WIAA Division 4 Basketball Regional Final: #1 McDonell Lady Macks 85, #4 Stratford 41

Right back to the action after a dominant win the previous night, the Lady Macks (24-2, 13-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) gave up the first two points of the game to the Tigers (14-12, 10-6 Marawood South Conference), then scored 11 straight and never looked back, notching 57 points by halftime.

McDonell continued their defensive dominance in the second half, as every player on the roster saw the floor, five ended the night in double figures, and the Lady Macks claimed their first ever Division 4 Regional Championship in a fitting home court finale.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior guard Emily Cooper and freshman guard EllaMay Cooper paced the scoring with 17 apiece, while freshman forward Anne Siegenthaler was close behind with 14. Freshman guard Claire Ruf was the fourth Lady Macks player in double figures, finishing with 11, while senior center Aubrey Dorn battled her way through foul trouble to tally 10.

2/23/24 WIAA Division 4 Basketball Regional Semi-Final: #1 McDonell Lady Macks 65, #8 Marathon 12

After earning a first-round bye in the WIAA Division 4 Tournament, the Lady Macks (23-2, 13-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) looked well-rested and every bit the number one seed, as they stifled the youthful Red Raiders (6-19, 2-13 Marawood South Conference), holding them to just three points going into the half.

The lockdown defense continued after the break, as McDonell cruised to a running clock victory and earned one final home game for their seniors, and a chance at a Regional Championship.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Freshman guard EllaMay Cooper poured in a game-high 20 points, including 14 in the first half, while senior center Aubrey Dorn wreaked havoc with her relentless defense and rebounding, and also tallied 12 points on the night.

2/17/24 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 52, Neillsville 32

Playing Neillsville for the second time this season, and in a rematch of last year's Cloverbelt Crossover 1st place game, the Lady Macks (22-2, 13-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out hot against the state-ranked Warriors (20-4, 14-0 Eastern Cloverbelt Conference), scoring the game's first 11 points.

Neillsville made a brief run after McDonell's hot start, but the Lady Macks' relentless defense was a constant throughout the game, as they rolled to a twenty-point victory, claiming the Crossover championship and vaulting themselves toward the postseason.

McDonell was also impressive after the game, as conference awards were announced. All five Lady Macks starters received all-conference recognition: Emily Cooper, Aubrey Dorn, and EllaMay Cooper earned first-team all conference honors, and Isabel Hartman and Kali Goulet were named Honorable Mention all-conference. And for back-to-back years, Emily Cooper was recognized as the Western Cloverbelt Conference Player of the Year.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior center Aubrey Dorn scored 17 points, including seven from the free throw line, while freshman guard EllaMay Cooper tallied 13. Senior point guard Emily Cooper knocked down two threes -  bringing her total to 71 made for the season - and finished with 12 points.
