12/28/22 Basketball: Hillsboro 54, McDonell Lady Macks 50

In the first night finale of the Denny Laramy Holiday Classic, the Lady Macks (6-3, 5-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) faced a fellow Division 5 powerhouse in the Tigers (8-1, 3-1 Scenic Bluffs Conference), a senior-laden squad looking for a statement win.

In a game of runs, McDonell saw their 10-point lead in the first half dissolve into a 26-26 tie, while Hillsboro similarly witnessed a double-digit advantage slip away in the second half.

It was in the late minutes, however, that the Tigers were able to knock down clutch shots and tally an impressive victory on the road..

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Aubrey Dorn notched a game-high 17 points, while her fellow junior, guard Emily Cooper, battled illness but still tallied 12.

12/28/22 Basketball: McDonell Macks 78, Bayfield 28

In the first annual Denny Laramy Holiday Classic, the Macks (9-0, 2-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) started a little slowly against the visiting Trollers (1-6, 1-2 Indianhead Conference), but pushed down the gas late in the first half, as they roared to a 30-point advantage at the break.

In the second half, the Macks continued their dominance, playing their starters sparingly as the McDonell reserves saw significant action and still forced a running clock, notching their ninth victory of the season and cruising into their tournament's championship game.
