After pulling off a huge upset the previous Friday night in the first round of the WIAA D1 tournament, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (5-6, 3-4 Big Rivers Conference) traveled all the way across the state for their first ever matchup against the Rockets (9-2, 5-2 Fox Valley Association) in a Level 2 tilt.
Neenah made two splash plays in the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead, and cruised to a 21-0 advantage at the break. In the second half, Chi-Hi's defense came alive, pitching a shutout for the final two quarters and forcing the game's only turnover, but offensively the Cards were never quite able to find their rhythm, as a fine 2023 season came to a close.
Senior LB Wesley Tanzer was solid on defense throughout, and came up with a big interception in the third quarter. Senior WR Jackson Bohland played both ways and again made an impact when utilized in the offensive backfield.
