10/25/24 WIAA 8-Player Football Tournament, Level 1: #2 McDonell Central 52, #3 Wausau Newman Catholic 8

A fired up Macks(8-1) squad came out hitting on all cylinders as they routed the Cardinals(7-2) 52-8. A balanced offensive attack ran for three TD's(two by Dawson Moulton and one by Daniel Fritz) and Grant Smiskey threw for four TD's(two to David Andersen and one to both Ryan Smiskey and Fritz). The Macks now travel to Owen-Withee this Friday night for a rematch vs. the only team to beat them this season.

Dawson Moulton ran for 173 yards and two TD's and fellow RB, Daniel Fritz, ran for 71 yards and one TD on three carries, caught a 40 yard TD pass and was named our WOGO "Rustproofers" Defensive Player of the game.

10/25/24 WIAA Division 1 Football Tournament, Level 1: #4 Middleton 19, #5 Chippewa Falls 14

On their longest road trip of the season and facing an unfamiliar opponent, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (6-4, 4-3 Big Rivers Conference) came out of the gate red-hot against the Middleton Cardinals (7-3, 5-2 Big Eight Conference), quieting the crowd at Breitenbach Stadium as they jumped out to a 14-0 lead.

Middleton went on a run of their own, scoring the next 13 points, and the teams went into halftime separated by the slimmest possible of margins. In the second half the defenses locked in, playing beyond the point of exhaustion and forcing crucial turnovers to keep points off the board. In the end, the home team scored the final touchdown and held on to advance to Level 2.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior RB Jackson Bohland accounted for both Chi-Hi scores, once on the ground and once through the air, as he amassed nearly 200 all-purpose yards. Senior OLB Colton Petska, was absolutely all over the field, making splash plays on both defense and special teams.

10/18/24 Football: Chippewa Falls 35, Menomonie 7

Looking to cement a playoff appearance and improve their seeding, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (6-3, 4-3 Big Rivers Conference) knew they'd face a stiff test in their perennial rival, the Mustangs (5-4, 3-4 BRC), a team they had not bested since 2015, including no regular season wins since 2008.

The Cards started hot, scoring in the game's first minute, and in a game that saw impact plays in all three phases, they not only beat their rivals, they dominated them. In a contest that earned head coach Chuck Raykovich a postgame dousing of Gatorade, Chi-Hi pitched a shutout until the 4th quarter, put a running clock on the Mustangs, and vaulted themselves into the postseason.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior FB/LB Drake Daken was absolutely electric, setting up the game's opening score with a 62-yard run, and later scoring himself from 56 yards out. Senior RB Jackson LeMay and fellow senior RB Jackson Bohland each scored their 11th touchdown of the season, and Bohland later made it a dozen scores on the year. Senior DL Brayden Hagmann had two monster sacks in the game, headlining a stellar effort by the Cards' D.

10/11/24 Football: Hudson 28, Chippewa Falls 17

Hoping to notch their third consecutive victory and cement a playoff spot, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (5-3, 3-3 Big Rivers Conference) chewed up half the first quarter on their opening possession but came away with no points, while the Raiders (6-2, 4-2) also came up empty on their first drive.

The scoring started just a few seconds into the second quarter, however, as Hudson scored on 4th and long - and from there the home team never really looked back, as they did just enough to hold the Cards at arm's length for the rest of the game.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior RB/S Jackson Bohland was absolutely dynamic with the ball in his hands in any capacity as he accounted for both Chi-Hi touchdowns, one on the ground and the other on a 90 yard kickoff return for a score. Senior LB/FB Drake Daken gave another stellar effort on both sides of the ball, running hard on offense and consistently making plays in the backfield on defense.
