1/26/24 Boys Basketball: Hudson-59 Chippewa Falls-57

Despite leading most of the first half, CF(0-8, 1-13) went into the half trailing Hudson(6-2, 9-6) 33-32. After a couple of lead changes early in the second half the Raiders built up a 51-40, but Easton Bobb led the Cards on a 15-2 run putting them up 55-53. However, despite some huge free throws from Braden Dickerson down the stretch it wasn't enough as Hudson snuck out with a 59-57 win.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Carson Wedemeyer led the way with 18 points, while fellow seniors Easton Bobb and Braden Dickerson added 17 a piece for the Cards.

1/25/24 Basketball: McDonell Macks 62, Osseo-Fairchild 47

Now on the road for the fourth of six straight away games, the Macks (12-4, 6-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) surrendered an early lead to the Thunder (9-7, 4-5 WCC), before beginning to find a groove offensively.

After halftime McDonell steadily began to pull away, creating turnovers and continuing to ride hot shooting from behind the arc, knocking down a dozen threes on the night as they notched their twelfth victory of the season and remained in a tie for second place in the conference.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard Cooper Mittermeyer hit four threes and finished with a game-high 14 points, while junior guard Jordan Sikora was the second Macks player in double figures on the night, tallying 10. Sophomore forward Karson Galvez and sophomore guard Cael Holm were close behind, with 9 and 8 points respectively, as 10 Macks players scored.

1/19/24 Basketball: Eau Claire Regis 56, McDonell Macks 41

In their third of six consecutive road contests, the Macks (11-4, 5-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) fell behind early to the Ramblers (6-9, 5-3 WCC), who played strong defense and knocked down shots on their home floor.

After the break, McDonell started to mount a comeback, pulling within a single basket, but a string of turnovers helped Regis pull away once again, as they avenged an early season defeat in Chippewa Falls, earned a split of the season series, and moved into a tie with the Macks for second place in the conference.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard Cooper Mittermeyer provided an offensive spark after halftime, tallying eight of his 10 points in the second half, while sophomore guard Cael Holm  scored all nine of his points after the break. Sophomore center Mason Busse battled hard on the boards throughout the night, creating numerous second chance opportunities.

1/18/24 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 71, Osseo-Fairchild 26

On the heels of their first loss in 22 games, the Lady Macks (15-1, 8-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) started a bit slowly against the physical Thunder (7-8, 4-4 WCC), but dominant defensive pressure allowed them to steadily pull away and carry a 19 point lead into the half.

After the break, McDonell's defense continued to pay dividends, as they again held their opponent to just a 13 point half and cruised to another running clock victory, remaining perfect in conference play.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior center Aubrey Dorn dominated the glass on both ends of the floor and finished with a game-high 20 points, while senior point guard Emily Cooper notched 11. Freshman forward Anne Siegenthaler came off the bench to tally double digits as well, scoring 10 in another strong effort.

1/11/24 Basketball: Fall Creek 65, McDonell Macks 62

Back at home after two straight road games, the Macks (9-3, 4-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) fell behind early to the Crickets (4-7, 2-4 WCC), but made a late surge to take a two point lead into the locker room.

In a back and forth second half, Fall Creek started to pull away late, but again, McDonell showed no quit as they fought their way back to a tie, only to fall short in the final seconds.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Cael Holm knocked down five threes and scored a game-high 21 points, while junior guard Jordan Sikora had an especially strong first half and finished with 16. Junior guard Cooper Mittermeyer was nearly perfect from the free throw line and tallied 14 for the game, while sophomore forward Karson Galvez was the fourth Macks player in double digits, adding 10 points.
