Looking to win two in a row and drastically increase their odds of punching a ticket to the playoffs, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (5-2, 3-2 Big Rivers Conference) came out of the gate hot against the Evergreens (5-2, 4-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference), who were winners of five straight coming into the game.
After a dominant first quarter by the Cards, DC Everest punched back, but a score with seconds left in the half helped bring momentum back to Chi-Hi's side. After the break the teams traded turnovers, and then the Evergreens started to find their groove offensively, but the Cards never surrendered their lead, holding on for a thrilling home win.
