Chippewa Falls (6-0, 4-0) continued their torrid hitting, sweeping Marshfield (3-4, 1-0) in a doubleheader at Casper Park: 19-1(5 inn.) and 15-2 (6 inn.). On the day the Cards scored in nine of their ten innings at the plate, only failing to do so in the fourth inning of the second game.
Chi-Hi got four innings of solid pitching from freshman Violet McIlquham in game one as fellow freshman, Delany Bero, secured the win by pitching the fifth. Meanwhile in game two senior Lakken McEathron made her season debut by pitching four innings of shutout ball before giving way to junior, Delany Berg, for the final two innings.
The Cardinals lead-off hitter, shortstop Kenna Johnston, topped a ton of great hitting performances, going 7-9 on the day with three doubles, four singles, four runs scored and two RBIs, while catcher, Lauren Shepherd, had three hits including a homer and five RBIs in game one, and center fielder, Paige Steinmetz, hit a grand slam in the nightcap.
