On Homecoming Night against one of the frontrunners in the conference, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-4, 0-3 Big Rivers Conference) ate up almost half of the first quarter clock on a 12-play drive that staked them to an 8-0 advantage.
The Warriors (5-0, 3-0 BRC), however, answered with a lengthy touchdown drive of their own, setting the tone for the contest. Both teams were able to methodically move the ball on the ground, but the visitors proved a bit stronger, as they took a late two touchdown lead and held the Cards at bay.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Jaylyn Smith returned a kick for a touchdown for the second time this season, while junior Tyler Behnke hit triple digits in rushing yards and scored twice for the Cards.
