Home at Dorais Field to begin their 2023 campaign, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) took full advantage of two first half turnovers to stake a 14-0 lead against the Vikings (0-1, 0-0 Mississippi Valley Conference), a fellow playoff team from last year.
In the second half, an early fumble and points left on the field stymied the Chi-Hi momentum, but the defense, which played strong throughout, held their ground at the finish to seal the victory.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior RB Jackson LeMay found the end zone twice on this opening night, once through the air and once on the ground, and made splash plays throughout the game. Fellow junior Jackson Bohland showed off his athleticism as a receiver and also provided a spark in the return game for the Cards.
