In their final home game of the season, this time in a Sectional playoff game, the Lady Macks (18-6, 11-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) started out with a bang against the Bluejays (15-8,8-0 Marawood North Conference), as McDonell junior Katie Ruf struck out the side on just 10 pitches in the top of the first.
In the Lady Macks' half of the inning, they plated 2 runs, then really opened things up in the bottom of the second, sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring 5 times, McDonell continued to ride strong performances all over the diamond, eventually ending the game in just five innings and advancing to the Sectional Final.
Sophomore leadoff hitter Kendall Hepfler was 2-3, walked once, swiped two bases, and scored three times, while senior Becca Baier went 3-4 at the plate with a walk and run scored, and junior Aubrey Dorn clobbered a pair of doubles In the circle, junior pitcher Katie Ruf was dominant once again as she struck out eight.
Chippewa Valley This Week
A two-run homer from Third Baseman, Madison Bauer, in the bottom of the first inning gave the Cards (21-5) an early lead that they never relinquished. Chippewa Falls added four runs in the second upping their lead to 6-0, three of which came on a clutch hit from Paige Steinmetz. Second Baseman, Mykle Buhrow, doubled in the Cards' seventh run in the third before New Richmond(12-7) got on the scoreboard in the fourth on a Brier Blietz solo homer.
Junior pitcher, Lakken Mc Eathron, turned in a solid performance as Chi High did what they needed to in advancing to Sectionals with an 8-4 win.
