11/16/23 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 59, Neillsville 52

In their season opener, the Lady Macks (1-0, 0-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) traveled over an hour to the east to face the Warriors (1-1, 0-0 Cloverbelt - East), who got the better of McDonell twice on their way to an undefeated regular season in 2022-23.

After an early three point deficit, the Lady Macks began to settle in offensively, but had to withstand a barrage of threes from the hot shooting Warriors, who came within a single basket at the break.

In the second half, the Lady Macks found offense from a few more places and, despite foul trouble, slowly pulled away from the home team to tally their first victory of the season.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior point guard Emily Cooper poured in 21 points in the first half, including five threes, as she paced the team with a game-high 28. Freshman guard EllaMay Cooper was impressive in her varsity basketball debut, finishing with 9 points, while senior guard Maddie Geissler scored all 8 of her points in a strong second half.
