1/6/20 Basketball: Eleva-Strum 51, McDonell Lady Macks 41

In a matchup of two teams with very similar playing styles, the Lady Macks (5-4, 4-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled gamely in a defensive struggle with the Lady Cardinals (7-3, 4-1 Dairyland - Large) but senior poise from Eleva-Strum held off a second half charge from McDonell and sealed the game down the stretch.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior sharpshooter Maggie Craker knocked down three triples and led the team with 13 points, while sophomore guard Lauryn Deetz scored 11, all in the second half.

1/4/2020 Chippewa Valley This Week: Protect Your Family from Radon; Hope Renewal Center for Women & Children





 Eau Claire County Environmental Health Specialist, Elizabeth Paulson, urges people to protect their family from radon by taking action, saying radon testing is easy.  Paulson says over 2,900 Wisconsinites die from lung cancer each year, with 488 calculated to be radon-related lung cancer deaths. She says radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S. She says radon-induced lung cancer is preventable, and the first step is to test your home. Also, Sandi Polzin, Executive Director of Hope Gospel Mission, brings us up to date  on their newly opened Renewal Center for Women and Children, which can house up to 11 Mom's, and their kids.








1/3/2020 Boys Basketball: Chip. Falls-69 Eau Claire Memorial-67

With four players scoring in double figures, the Chi High Boys(6-2,3-1) overcame some shaky, fourth quarter free throw shooting to win on the road over Eau Claire Memorial, 69-67.



WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Joe Reuter and Jacob Walczak led the way with 19 points. Peyton Rogers-Schmidt added 14, including two on an authoritative, second half slam coming in off the right baseline. Nick Bruder also chipped in 11.
