1/29/22 Basketball: Rice Lake-67 Chippewa Falls-66(OT)

In a back and forth battle throughout, the Chi High Boys fell in overtime at Rice Lake, 67-66. Down five in the late going, the Cards got a hoop from Jackson Tomczak and a 3-pointer from Kansas Smith to force OT.

The Cards jumped out to a 63-60 lead in the extra session on a 3 from Mason Monarski, but Tyler Orr's two-point basket and the subsequent free throw put Rice Lake ahead for good at 67-66. With the win Rice Lake goes to 5-3 in the BRC and 10-5 overall, while CF drops to 2-7 in the conference and 2-14 overall.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior Mason Monarski led the way with 20 points, while fellow junior, Kansas Smith, stepped up big scoring 12 points, including the 3 that forced OT.

1/28/22 Basketball: Osseo-Fairchild 59, McDonell Lady Macks 50

Playing in front of a jam-packed gym in a much anticipated rematch between two state-ranked squads, the Lady Macks (14-3, 9-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled gamely with the veteran Thunder (18-1, 10-1 WCC) and pulled within three points by the half.

In the second, McDonell was able to take the lead on two different occasions, but each time Osseo-Fairchild's deep and talented roster found an answer, eventually pulling away for a victory that left them alone atop the conference standings.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Marley Hughes hit multiple big shots in the second half, scoring twelve of her team-high 14 points, while senior guard Lauryn Deetz tallied ten in the first half and finished close behind with 13 for the game.

1/27/22 Basketball: Fall Creek 62, McDonell Macks 37

Continuing to battle through the toughest part of their regular season schedule, the Macks (7-10, 5-5 Western Cloverbelt Conference) watched the powerful, conference-leading Crickets (13-3, 9-1 WCC) score the first 18 points of the game and never look back.

Although McDonell fought hard, they were never able to trim the deficit to single digits as Fall Creek defended their home court and continued a push toward a potential Western Cloverbelt title.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Canan Huss bore the load offensively, pouring in 21 points, including a perfect 8-8 performance from the free throw line.

1/21/22 Basketball: McDonell Macks 68, Thorp 41

Looking to get back on track after two tough losses, the Macks (7-8, 5-4 Western Cloverbelt Conference) matched defensive intensity with offensive execution, holding the Cardinals (5-9, 1-6 WCC), to just 16 points in the first half.

McDonell continued to press their advantage in the second, eventually inserting every player on the varsity lineup into the action as they cruised to another conference win.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard Eddie Mittermeyer was lights out from downtown, knocking down six threes to finish with a game-high 20 points. Junior forward Canan Huss was typically solid in each half to tally 18, while senior center Joe Janus notched 13 points.

1/17/22 Basketball: Fall Creek 68, McDonell Macks 60

Facing the powerful front-runners of their conference, the Macks (6-7, 4-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out firing on their home floor, temporarily stunning the Crickets (11-1, 7-0 WCC), and roaring out to a 17-point halftime advantage.

In a tale of two halves, however, Fall Creek scored the first eight points after the break and slowly but surely chipped away at the McDonell lead, pulling in front and pulling away in the closing minutes.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Canan Huss scored 20 points before fouling out, while junior guard Aidan Misfeldt was on fire in the first half, canning a trio of triples as he tallied 15 for the game.
