01/02/18 Basketball: Chi Hi Cardinals 69 - Holmen Vikings 63

At home in their first game in 2018, Chi-Hi (6-4, 4-0 Big Rivers Conference) went back and forth all first half long against the Holmen Vikings (7-3, 3-1 Mississippi Valley Conference), trading buckets and lead changes, until Chi Hi held a one point advantage at the half by a score of 36-35. The Lady Cards built a lead throughout much of the second half, eventually enjoying as much as a 16 point advantage, but Holmen made their run at the Cards, cutting it to just a 3 point game with a minute to play. Clutch free throw shooting and defense made the difference for Chi Hi as they sealed a 6 point win.

It was a key victory for Chippewa against a tough non-conference opponent, and snapped a two game losing streak for the Cardinals.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore Alexis Zenner led the team in scoring with an even 20 points, and played excellent individual defense against the leading scorer for the Vikings. Sophomore Caelan Givens finished with 18 points and was credited with several excellent assists.
