6/7/18 Softball WIAA Div. 5 State Semi-Final: McDonell Lady Macks 5, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 3

In their return to Madison, the defending champion Lady Macks (19-1, 13-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) jumped in front early and overcame a few miscues to knock off a talented Assumption squad. Sophomore Olivia Mlsna and seniors Megan Baier and Liz Rietschel led the way at the plate.
The Royals (16-5) threatened late, but with the help of strong play in the field from Shanen Rice, Mlsna, and Jessica Eisenreich, Baier (4 Ks) once again slammed the door late to help send McDonell back to the state title game.

6/7/18 Softball WIAA Div. 1 State Quarterfinal: Burlington 9, Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 1

In their first trip back to Madison since 2015, the Lady Cards (24-5, 11-1 Big Rivers Conference) fell victim to a 5-run first inning by the Demons (21-5, 13-1 Southern Lakes Conference) and, though they made contact often, could never quite get hits to fall in play, thanks in part to a sterling defensive performance by a strong Burlington squad.
