2/5/22 Basketball: McDonell Macks 77, Osseo-Fairchild 53

After a week off, the Macks (9-10, 6-5 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out firing against the undermanned Thunder (3-14, 3-8 WCC), knocking down six threes and leading by 17 at the half.

In the second, McDonell continued to spark their offense with strong defensive play, cruising to a conference victory and completing the season sweep.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard Eddie Mittermeyer was lights out in the first half, pouring in 20 points and finishing with a game-high 22. Junior forward Canan Huss was typically efficient, scoring eight in each half to finish with 16, while senior center Joe Janus and freshman guard Grant Smiskey each tallied 11 to round out four McDonell players in double figures.

2/4/22 Basketball: Menomonie-76 Chippewa Falls-34

6-2 Senior, Emma Mommsen, and her Menomonie teammates, were just too much for the undermanned Chi High Girls as the Mustangs coasted to their second lopsided win over the Cards in 11 days, 76-34, at the Bird Cage at Chippewa Falls High School. Mommsen scored 26 points in leading Menomonie(10-1, 17-3) to their fourth straight win.

Chippewa Falls(0-11,0-21) had their hands full against the hard-pressing Mustangs defense as they were without three guards--starters Brooklyn Sandvig and Madisyn Bauer, as well as Kayla Pabich.
