12/20/19 Basketball: Hudson 36-Chi Hi 35

Chi Hi (5-4, 2-2 Big Rivers Conference) played host to the Hudson Raiders (5-4, 2-1 BRC) in a pivotal conference game between the teams who finished 1-1 in the BRC last season. The game started slow offensively, and Chi Hi trailed at the half by 5. The Cardinals eventually built a lead as large as 7, but turnovers down the stretch doomed the Lady Cards.

Senior Aaliyah McMillan hit a pair of 3's on her way to 14 points. Senior Alexis Zenner added 9 points of her own and played her typical stout defense.

12/15/19 Chippewa Valley This Week: Eau Claire Anti-Impeachment Rally


 

 Hear from Rep. Ron Kind(D-La Crosse), who continues to say he hasn't fully made up his mind on how he'll vote when the full House takes up Impeachment this week. Meanwhile, Dec. 14th, around 50 protesters took part in an Anti-Impeachment rally in downtown Eau Claire, calling on Rep. Kind to "Stop the Madness" and vote against what they call a "politically motivated impeachment scam" against Pres. Trump. Among those you'll hear from include: Jesse Garza, 3rd Vice Chair of the Republican Party of Wisconsin; Charlotte Rasmussen, Steering Committee Member of Women for 2020; Anna Kelly, Wisconsin Press Secretary for Trump Victory.

12/14/19 Basketball: Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 56, McDonell Lady Macks 46

Playing again the next night after a tough conference loss, the Lady Macks (3-3, 1-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled to within a point of the Royals (3-4, 1-2 Marawood - South) at the break and even pushed out to a lead in the second half, but ultimately didn't have an answer for a dominant performance in the paint.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Lauryn Deetz scored her team's first 13 points and finished with 19 for the game, while junior Maggie Craker notched 13.

12/14/19 Basketball: McDonell 70, Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 37

On the road to La Crosse Aquinas for the Diocesan Showcase, the Macks (5-0, 2-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) faced a very young team in the Royals (0-6, 0-3 Marawood - South) and it showed, as McDonell jumped out to an early 10-0 lead and never looked back.

Senior guard JD Bohaty knocked down four threes on his way to a game-high 18 points, while junior guard Jake Siegenthaler tallied 13.

12/13/19 Basketball: Chi Hi 85-Rice Lake 57

Chi Hi (2-1, 2-0 Big Rivers Conference) went up Highway 53 on a snowy Friday night to battle Rice Lake (0-4, 0-3 BRC). The Cardinals had strong starts to both halves and had highlights galore on their way to a lead that would top 30 points at times.

Senior Peyton Rogers-Schmidt had a trio of thunderous dunks in the first half, while Senior Nick Bruder hit two 3-pointers before halftime as well for the Cards.

12/10/19 Basketball: Onalaska 67-Chi Hi 52

Chi Hi (3-2, 2-0 Big Rivers) played host to the Hilltoppers (5-0) in an early season clash of two teams with big expectations. The two heavyweights traded punches for the first half and a good chunk of the second half before Onalaska got the upper hand.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Alexis Zenner hit 4 three-pointers and had her highest scoring output of the season with 20 points. Senior Aaliyah McMillan also got going from beyond the arc on her way to 18 points.

12/9/19 Basketball: Clear Lake 75, McDonell Lady Macks 58

Facing Clear Lake, the school that ousted them from the sectionals in volleyball on their way to a state title, the Lady Macks (2-1, 1-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled gamely back from a double-digit deficit to tie the Warriors (4-0, 1-0 Lakeland - Central) at the break, but foul trouble and free throws made a big difference down the stretch as the veteran visitors pulled away.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Lauryn Deetz continued her hot start to the season with a 25-point outburst, while junior guard Maggie Craker tallied 13.

Back at home in Chippewa Falls, the Macks (3-0, 1-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) faced relentless defensive pressure from the Warriors (3-1, 1-0 Lakeland - Central), but eventually pulled away after the break to remain perfect on the young season.

Senior guard JD Bohaty knocked down five threes on his way to a game-high 20 points, while junior guard Jake Siegenthaler was right behind with a career-high 19 point performance.

12/7/19 Basketball: McDonell Macks 38, Colfax 36

On the road at UW-Stout for the Northwest Tip-Off Classic, the Macks (2-0, 1-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went back and forth with the tough-minded Vikings (1-1, 0-0 Dunn-St. Croix) in a defensive struggle, then held on down the stretch to notch their second victory of the young season.

Junior guard Jake Siegenthaler knocked down a pair of big threes in the first half and led the way with a team-high 12 points, while senior forward Eion Kressin tallied 10.

12-6-19 Basketball: Chi Hi 48-Menomonie 38

Chi Hi (3-1, 2-0 Big Rivers Conference) went on the road in conference to take on the Menomonie Mustangs (2-4, 1-1 BRC). The Cardinals and Mustangs were tied at 9 early in the game before the Cardinals ripped off a 12-0 run to take the lead for good. Menomonie mounted a charge late, but Chi Hi held them off for a win.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Caelan Givens was strong in the first half with 8 points before she suffered a shoulder injury in the second half. Aaliyah McMillan was also knocked out of the game with injury, but came back strong to finish with 10 points

In their home, season, and conference opener, the Macks (1-0, 1-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) took a little while to find their groove offensively against the youthful but talented Orioles (0-2, 0-1 WCC), but pulled away in the second half with a strong defensive effort.

Senior guard JD Bohaty hit a trio of treys and tallied 14 points on the night, while junior guard Jake Siegenthaler finished with 12.
