3/18/16 WIAA D5 State Semifinal: McDonell 70, Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran 51


Battling turnovers and perhaps a few nerves, the Macks (26-2, 13-1 Western Cloverbelt) came back from eight down in the first half to win by 19 against the physical Blazers (14-14, 5-9 Packerland) and move on to the state title game.

Sophomore Hayden Baughman scored 19 in the first half, and led McDonell with 23 points, in addition to 9 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.
Senior Ben Retzlaff hit three from beyond the arc and scored his 1,000th career point in the second half, finishing with 13 points. Junior Alex Ohde contributed 10 points and 6 rebounds, junior Grayson Knowlton added 6 points, 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 assists. Rounding out the strong starting give, junior Nathan Hoglund tallied 6 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists.
