In a rematch of their only loss of the season, the McDonell Macks (21-1, 12-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) fell behind by double digits very early to the powerful Crickets (18-3, 11-2 WCC), and had to work hard to come within 11 at the half.
After the break, McDonell slowly but surely began to close the deficit, tying the game twice before eventually taking their first lead late in the second half. In the closing moments, the Macks boys showed their incredible grit as they held off a final Fall Creek charge, notched a truly resilient win, and assured themselves of at least a share of the conference title.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
On Parents' Night, senior guard/forward Canan Huss put on an absolute show, tallying 22 of his game-high (and season high) 33 points in the second half, including the 1,000th point of his career, AND scored the game-winner with 2.2 seconds left. Meanwhile, senior guard Eddie Mittermeyer provided a huge offensive spark in the first half, hit his 97th and 98th threes of the season, and finished with 24.
