On the road trying to end a three game skid, the Macks (5-6, 3-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled through a low-scoring first half against the Ramblers (4-8, 3-3 WCC), and held on to a one basket advantage at the break.
In the second half, Regis eventually built a two possession advantage but McDonell battled back, including a long defensive stand at the end of regulation to send the game into overtime. In the extra frame, heroics abounded on both sides, but the Macks came away the victor in a thriller that lived up to billing in this longstanding rivalry.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Canan Huss scored 19 points, none bigger than a contested three at the buzzer in OT. Meanwhile, junior guard Eddie Mittermeyer had a critical second half, scoring 10 of his 13 after the break.
