10/22/21 WIAA D1 Football Level 1: Chi-Hi 22, Stevens Point 21 (OT)

On the road to begin the second season, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (8-2, 5-2 Big Rivers Conference) found themselves matched up with a powerful conference champion in the Panthers (7-4, 5-1 Valley Football Association).

The Cards defense held their own against the potent passing attack of SPASH, winning the turnover battle and providing opportunities for the Chi-Hi offense, which made its share of big plays late in each half. In the extra frame, a gutsy call by Coach Raykovich, coupled with perfect execution, proved to be the difference.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior QB Brayden Warwick threw two TD passes, while fellow senior WR Judah Dunham scored on both a 72-yard reception and a critical 2-pt conversion. Senior RB Karson Bowe did his damage in the second half and OT, scoring two touchdowns - one on the ground and one through the air, - and sealed the win with a 2-pt conversion run. Senior DB Gavin Goodman made two crucial plays in the second half, including a fumble recovery on a muffed punt and a goal line interception to stop a potential game-winning drive.
