In their season opener, the Lady Macks (1-0, 0-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) traveled 90 minutes east to face the Dons (0-2, 0-0 Cloverbelt - East), who were looking to defend their home floor and get back to .500 on the year.
Though the offense came along slowly for McDonell, the intensity of their defensive effort more than made up for it, as they never allowed Columbus Catholic to find a rhythm.
In the second half, the Lady Macks saw more shots start to fall as they slowly but surely pulled away for their first victory of the 2022-23 season.

Senior forward Marley Hughes hit a trio of treys and tied for the team-high with 14 points, while junior guard Emily Cooper also notched 14 and came close to a double-double with steals. Fellow junior Kali Goulet played relentless defense and added 12 points with great transition offense.
