After removing all the benches & tables from the park where many of Eau Claire's homeless gather, City officials held a meeting this past Friday, July 26th, with the city council and others to explain their actions and where things sit going forward. We hear from City of Eau Claire Community Services Director, Lane Berg; Eau Claire City Manager, Stephanie Hirsch; Homeless advocate, Mary Catherine; Eau Claire Police Lt., Jesse Henning; Eau Claire City Council member, Josh Miller; Jennifer Cornett, a self-described homeless woman from California; Janet from Wausau who says she's been homeless for seven months. Plus, from a July 25th news conference, State Sen. Jeff Smith(D-Eau Claire) talks about the importance of providing better public transportation, with a special emphasis on developing a Regional Transportation plan.
