Continuing their gauntlet of a non-conference schedule, the Macks (4-2, 1-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went toe-to-toe with the relentless pressure defense of the high-scoring Tigers (4-2, 3-0 Heart O'North), proving their toughness and holding a team that averages 79+ points per game to roughly half their season average.

Basketball: 12/29/20 Eau Claire Memorial-47 Chippewa Falls-45
After jumping out to a 7-0 lead, CF(0-5) saw EC Memorial(1-3) score the last 13 points of the first half and the first two points of the 2nd half in building a 29-18 advantage. Still, CF rallied back late from a 39-30 deficit only to fall a bit short, losing 47-45, after Brooklyn Sandvig missed a last second shot.
Shannon Lindner hit a number of key hoops late in leading the Cards with 17 points, and Savannah Hinke netted 16 points, in the hard fought defeat.

12/28/20 Girls Hockey: Chippewa Falls-Menomonie 6, Central Wisconsin Storm 1
Greg Steward had the call on WOGO Radio as the Chippewa Falls/Menomonie Sabers took down the #2 ranked team in the state, the Central Wisconsin Storm! Ella Ausman came through with a hat trick for the Sabers, and Caroline O'Dell had a strong game in net!

12/29/20 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 56, Eau Claire Regis 37
Back in action for the second time after Christmas, the Lady Macks (4-1, 3-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) looked sharp against the Ramblers (5-4, 2-3 WCC), and cruised in the second half to remain unbeaten in conference play.

In a battle of two quality teams searching for a first conference victory, the Macks (3-2, 1-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went back-and-forth with their perennial rival, and overcame a lead from the Ramblers (1-6, 0-3 WCC), to push ahead by one at the break.
In a lower scoring, tightly defended second half, McDonell kept their cool in the closing seconds and came from behind to secure the victory.

12/28/20 Basketball: Medford-44 Chippewa Falls-33
After jumping out to a 5-0 lead early, Medford(4-2) never trailed and was never even tied on their way to a 44-33 win over Chi High at Chippewa Falls. Medford began the second half with another 5-0 run mounting their biggest lead of the game at 30-15, and held on for the win.
Brooklyn Sandvig led the way with eight points and Ava Reuter added seven, as the Cards struggled offensively.

12/22/20 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 57, Altoona 40
On the road for the second time this year, the Lady Macks (2-1, 2-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out of the gate hot, though the Railroaders (2-6, 0-4 WCC) fought back to within three at the half. In the second frame, McDonell battled through foul trouble to surge ahead, and cruised to their second conference victory.

12/21/20 Basketball: McDonell Macks 51, Neillsville 50
Looking to bounce back after a one-point heartbreaker Friday night, the Macks (1-2, 0-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) fell behind by double-digits in the first half against the unbeaten Warriors (3-1, 3-0 Eastern Cloverbelt Conference), but battled back with a late flurry and were only down two at the break.
In a low scoring, tightly defended second half, McDonell found a way to come through in the clutch and notch their first victory of the season.

Senior forward guard Jake Siegenthaler provided a scoring burst late in the first half, then hit two timely buckets in the second to finish with a game-high 13 points, while fellow senior Logan Hughes notched his third consecutive double-digit game and ended with 10.

12/19/20 Basketball: Stevens Point 69-Chi Hi 40
Chi Hi (0-2 Big Rivers Conference) played host to Stevens Point (3-3) out of the Wisconsin Valley conference in a game where Stevens Point built up a 13 point lead at the half. The Lady Cards never made a run and eventually the game got away from them.
Junior Emily Hakes made a few three pointers and finished with 13 points, while Junior Shannon Lindner did good work in the post, especially in the second half, and put up 11 points.

In their first home game of the young season, the Macks (0-2, 0-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) built a double-digit lead in the first half against the Orioles (2-2, 2-0 WCC), but saw it evaporate in a back-and-forth second frame. Stanley-Boyd's resilience proved to be the difference as they won a tightly contested game in the final seconds.

In their first home game of the season, the Lady Macks (1-1, 1-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) built a double-digit lead in the first half against the Orioles (2-4, 1-2 WCC), before surrendering it in the second. The visitors led by as many as three points before a late McDonell surge helped close out the season's first win.

The Chi High boys picked up where they left off last season winning a hard fought season opener at home over Hudson, 74-70.
After falling behind by 11 early in the second half, 43-32, the Raiders fought hard to pull even at 63 and 65, before CF outscored them 9-5 down the stretch.
6-5 Sr, Joe Reuter, led the way with 31 pts., five assists, four rebounds and four steals. 6-foot So., Mason Monarski, dropped in four of the team's 11 3-pointers on his way to 16 pts., while 6-5 Sr., Jacob Walczak, had 15 pts. to go his team-high 5 rebs.
