11/21/24 Basketball: Medford 53, Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals 38

In their home and season opener, the Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals (0-1, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) withstood an opening run by the Raiders (1-1, 0-0 Great Northern Conference), then fought back to take the lead.

A young and talented Medford roster, however, responded with a 14-0 run and never really looked back, as they took advantage of a Chi-Hi team still struggling to get healthy early in the season. Despite foul trouble and a limited number of players available overall, the Lady Cards hustled and battled throughout, but couldn't quite get within striking distance as they dealt with the constant pressure defense of the Raiders.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior PG Roz Twyman led the team with 12 points and a strong all-around effort, while fellow senior G Jillian Wik was perfect from the free throw line and added 9.
