On the road in Williams Stadium, where they had not won since 2007, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (4-5, 3-4 Big Rivers Conference) faced not only the regular season and conference finale, but also a do-or-die game for their postseason chances.
The Mustangs (4-5, 2-5 BRC), moved the ball effectively early in the contest and eventually scored the game's first touchdown to taka a 6-0 lead. The Cards battled back, knotting the game at six heading into halftime, with Menomonie set to receive the second half kick.
In the third quarter, however, the contest turned dramatically, as Chi-Hi capitalized on an early turnover and began to dominate on the ground, pitching a shutout in the second half and scoring 30 additional unanswered points to notch a resounding victory in one of the state's oldest rivalries.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Noah King, typically a standout on the offensive line, made multiple splash plays on defense as well, while junior Talen Shilts tallied a trio of touchdowns, all in the second half.
