After a long bus ride north, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-4, 1-3 Big Rivers Conference) came out of the gate strong, garnering a turnover on downs on the game's first drive, then marching down for an early one-score advantage.
The Spartans (0-6, 0-4 BRC), who were celebrating both their Hall of Fame Night and Homecoming, played hard throughout, but could not keep pace with the Cards, who controlled the line of scrimmage in the running game, led by a standout performance from multiple members of their offensive line.
Senior RB/WR Jaylyn Smith was a force to be reckoned with, scoring twice on the ground and a third time on a TD reception, while sophomore LB Ryan Zenner was all over the field on defense, making his presence felt on multiple plays.
