The Lady Cardinals (10-9, 8-1 Big Rivers Conference) played two at Casper on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon, run-ruling Tomah (16-3, 9-0 Mississippi Valley Conference) in 4 innings before falling by a run to DC Everest (18-1, 9-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference).
In game one of the day, sophomore pitcher Violet McIlquham was nothing short of brilliant, hurling a 10-strikeout no-hitter in four innings, as the Lady Cards' bats also came alive, including a 4 RBI game for junior catcher Lauren Shepherd, who tallied her ninth home run of the season.
The second game was much tougher for Chi-Hi offensively, as they struck out 15 times while facing one of the best pitchers in the state, but junior pitcher Willa Risinger answered with a strong, 6-strikeout performance of her own to help keep the Cards in it, and a late rally in the 7th fell just short.
