2/28/25 Basketball (WIAA Division 4 Regional Semi-Final): #2 McDonell Lady Macks 67, #10 Colby 42

In their playoff opener, the Lady Macks (16-8, 10-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) jumped out to an early double-digit lead before the Hornets (5-18, 1-13 Eastern Cloverbelt Conference), made a push and pulled within a possession.

McDonell responded with a run of their own, taking a 19-point advantage into the half and stifling the comeback bid. Every player on the Lady Macks roster saw action in the second half as they cruised to a victory and earned a spot in the Regional Final.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Claire Ruf scored the game's first 9 points on her way to a game-high 22, and fellow sophomore Anne Siegenthaler contributed 13 of her own as 11 different Lady Macks scored.

2/27/25 Basketball: McDonell Macks 65, Spencer 61

Playing on their home floor in the annual Cloverbelt Crossover game, the Macks (15-9, 6-6 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went back and forth for much of the first half with the young and talented Rockets (14-10, 7-7 Eastern Cloverbelt Conference), and led by just a single possession at the half.

In the second, McDonell came out of the gate with some momentum, stretching the lead to multiple possessions, but never pulling away. Foul trouble plagued the Macks in the second half, but clutch defensive plays and free throws made the difference as the clock waned, giving McDonell the win and some momentum on the doorstep of the playoffs.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard Eli Stepp was electric off the bench, knocking down three triples and pacing the team with a career-high 17 points, while junior Cael Holm also tallied a trio of treys, and finished with 13.

2/21/25 Basketball: McDonell Macks 83, Thorp 40

On the road in their conference finale and playing on back-to-back nights, the Macks (14-9, 6-6 Western Cloverbelt Conference) gave up an early lead and found themselves down two possessions to the Cardinals (2-20, 0-12 WCC), who got hot from distance early in the game.

Right before halftime, however, McDonell responded, retaking the lead and stretching it to a 13-point advantage at the break. After the half, the Macks never looked back, scoring the first 11 points of the second half and cruising to a dominant conference victory.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore forward Nathan Hazel, now a regular starter for Coach Adam Schilling, raised his career-high for the second time in three games, tallying 20 points. Junior guard Eli Stepp also was placed in the starting lineup and made the most of it, finishing with 14 points as 13 different McDonell players scored.

2/15/25 Basketball: Marshfield 62, Chippewa Falls 53

Facing one of the top Division 1 teams, the Cards (0-20, 0-12 Big Rivers Conference) fell behind early in the first half, but fought back relentlessly against the Tigers (14-5, 9-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference), who made a late 10-0 run to end the first half leading by double digits.

After halftime, Chi-Hi responded with a 10-2 run of their own, staying within 2-3 possessions of Marshfield for the rest of the game, as they absolutely refused to go away. In the final minute, ball control and free throws sealed the victory for the Tigers.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior point guard Grant Von Haden had perhaps his best game of the season, pouring in a team-high 17 points. Senior Collin Nichols did a little of everything on the night, including tallying 12 points, 10 of which came in the second half. Sophomore guard Owen Munson was the third Cardinals player in double figures, ending with 10.

2/14/25 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 65, Thorp 34

On the road with a conference title in sight, the Lady Macks (14-8, 10-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) jumped out to an early double-digit lead against the youthful Cardinals (1-19, 0-12 WCC), who struggled against McDonell's pressure defense.

The Lady Macks used a full complement of players throughout the game as they continued to stretch the lead, cruising to their seventh straight win and officially clinching a share of the Western Cloverbelt Conference crown.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard/forward Claire Ruf led the way with a game-high 19 points, while sophomore forward Anne Siegenthaler was right behind with 14. Senior forward Kendall Hepfler was just outside double-digit scoring herself, as she tallied nine.

2/13/25 Basketball: Stanley-Boyd 57, McDonell Macks 56

On the road and hoping for a season sweep of a conference opponent, the Macks (13-8, 5-5 Western Cloverbelt Conference) found their range from three early on against the Orioles (12-9, 7-3 WCC), who used their size advantage to battle back to a tie game at the half.

After the break, McDonell scored the first eight points of the second half, withstood a Stanley-Boyd run, and extended the lead to eight once again. The Orioles responded, however, and as both teams battled all the way to the finish line, the home team took the lead in the game's final moments and inched out a one-point victory.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore forward Nathan Hazel, starting just his third game of the year, was strong in the first half and brilliant in the second, pouring in a career-high 15 points. Junior guard Cael Holm knocked down a trio of threes and tallied 13, while junior forward Karson Galvez got hot from beyond the arc as well, scoring all 12 of his points in the second half.
