11/17/24 CVTW: An Update on Refugee Resettlement in Eau Claire Through World Relief

                                                                                Chippewa Valley This Week

World Relief Community Engagement Specialist, Jodi Jewell

World Relief Community Engagement Specialist, Jodi Jewell, defines just who are "refugees" and updates us on the integration of 75 refugees into the Eau Claire community in the past year. She says they've been approved for another 100-125 refugees through the end of September, 2025, but says that's somewhat uncertain because the President-Elect has promised to "suspend all refugee arrivals to the United States on day one." Either way, she says, they'll look to carry on their work as best they can. Finally, she says anyone wanting to join their Good Neighbor teams working with incoming refugees or churches/groups wanting her to speak should contact her at Jjewell@WR.org.

11/10/24 CVTW: Election Review; Fundraisers for Tandem and OCC; Veteran's Day

                                                                               Chippewa Valley This Week

We begin by celebrating WI's clean and fair election and hear Gov. Evers saluting our "Election Day" heroes. We look back on Tuesday's election we hear from the winner of WI's US Senate race, Sen. Tammy Baldwin(D-WI) and both candidates from the competitive 3rd Congressional District race, re-elected Rep. Derrick Van Orden(R-Prairie du Chien) and his challenger, Rebecca Cooke(D-Eau Claire). We celebrate the $30,000 grant the Pablo Foundation gave to Tandem, the recently reformed organization of Eau Claire Treehouse and Eau Claire County Restorative Justice, and we hear from Exec. Dir., Dana Brown, and the guest speaker for their Nov. 16th fundraiser, Jarrell Roach. Kris Schnack from French Press explains their Nov. Wild Rice bowl fundraiser in support of Operation Christmas Child. And, finally, State Sen. Andre Jacque(R-De Pere) thanks our veterans ahead of Veteran's Day.
