5/6/25 Baseball: McDonell Macks 14, Augusta 4 (6 innings)

Through the first four and a half innings on a beautiful Tuesday night at Casper, the Macks (7-5, 3-5 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled the Beavers (2-8, 2-7 Large Dairyland Conference), with neither team able to pull away.

The floodgates opened in the bottom of the fifth, however, as McDonell plated 10 runs while sending 15 batters to the plate, cruising to their second run-rule victory in as many nights.

Senior Grant Smiskey had a huge day at the plate, including a pair of triples, and drove in three runs. Fellow senior David Andersen also collected three hits on the night, while junior Karson Galvez came to the mound in a relief appearance and ate up innings for the Macks, allowing just a single run.

5/3/25 Softball Doubleheader: McDonell Lady Macks 5, Prescott 3; Hudson 7, McDonell 5

On a beautiful Saturday afternoon at the Prescott Invitational, the Lady Macks (7-5, 4-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) battled the Cardinals (Middle Border Conference) and then the Raiders (Big Rivers Conference) in two entertaining and competitive contests, winning the first and dropping the second.

Strong pitching performances and patience at the plate helped McDonell throughout the afternoon, though a few defensive mishaps proved costly, particularly in the second game, as the Division 4 Lady Macks tested themselves against the defending D3 state champions and then a quality Division 1 opponent.

Sophomore Kelsey Bremness took a no-hitter to the 6th inning in game one, while fellow sophomore Rylie Christianson had a strong outing against Hudson in Game 2. Senior Avery Bowe and sophomore Lizzy Leibrandt each collected three hits on the day, including a solo homer against Hudson for Leibrandt, while Christianson and junior Keagan Winger each tallied four hits on the afternoon.

5/2/25 Softball: Fall Creek 15, McDonell Lady Macksl 5 (6 innings)

On their home field and looking to split the season series and avenge a one-run loss earlier, the Lady Macks (6-4, 4-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference) gave up two early runs to the Crickets (12-4, 7-0 WCC), but battled back with a run of their own in the bottom of the first.

After that, however, Fall Creek steadily pulled away, continually loading the bases and putting pressure on the McDonell defense. A late comeback bid by the Lady Macks fell short, as they continued into a stretch of four games in three days.

Sophomore Rylie Christianson was 2-3 on the day, including a first inning triple, and fellow sophomore Claire Ruf contributed a big 2 RBI double late in the game.
