1/3/25 Basketball: Rice Lake 74, Chippewa Falls 34

On the road for their first contest in the new year, the Cardinals (0-8, 0-4 Big Rivers Conference) got behind the eight ball early after the hot-shooting Warriors (8-0, 4-0 BRC) jumped out to a 25-0 lead.

In the second half, though baskets were a little easier to come by for Chippewa Falls, Rice Lake continued to hold the Cards at bay, as the Warriors defended their home floor and remained perfect on the season.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore G/F Owen Munson hit a pair of threes and led the way for Chi-Hi with 10 points, while fellow sophomore Kael Dillenbeck chipped in seven.

12/29/24 CVTW: Refugee Resettlement in Wausau

                                                                 Chippewa Valley This Week

Earlier in December it was reported Rep. Tom Tiffany sent a letter to the Bureau of Refugee Programs for the Evers Administration asking about plans to send Afghan and Ukranian refugees to Marathon county. Tiffany said just like the refugees who'd arrived in Eau Claire this year there aren't a lot of answers about who these people are and where they're coming from. He also questioned the Bided Administration's vetting of the refugees, so in response we spoke with Janice Watson, Executive Director of Wausau's Multicultural Community Center, a branch of the Ethiopian Community Development Council. Watson says in the three years the MCC has been in Wausau they've helped some 500 refugees assimilate into the area and she discussed how thoroughly they are vetted.
