4/24/25 Softball: Chippewa Falls 9, Menomonie 4

On an overcast day that threatened rain at any moment, the Lady Cards (5-4, 5-1 Big Rivers Conference) squared off against the Mustangs (9-5, 3-3 BRC), looking for a sweep of the season series.

Chi-Hi started out with a bang, tallying eight runs in the bottom of the first, before the game became a defensive struggle. Menomonie continued to get runners aboard, but the Cards' pitching and defense mostly held the visitors at bay, and Chippewa earned the win and continued to keep pace in the conference race.

Senior second baseman Roz Twyman tallied three hits in four plate appearances, while junior catcher Lauren Shepherd walked three times and collected a hit. Junior pitcher Willa Risinger struck out three and earned the win.

4/22/25 Baseball Doubleheader: (Game 1) McDonell Macks 10, Fall Creek 0 (6 innings). (Game 2) Fall Creek 9, McDonell 5

Playing two conference games in doubleheader fashion, the Macks (4-3, 2-3 Western Cloverbelt Conference), came out of the gate strong against the Crickets (4-4, 2-1 WCC), run-ruling their opponent in six innings behind a complete game shutout pitching performance and strong two-out hitting.

In Game 2 it was Fall Creek's turn to start the game strong, and after seizing the lead in the bottom of the first they were able to hold off McDonell the rest of the way, earning the split.

Junior pitcher Cael Holm went the distance for the Macks in Game 1 in another very strong outing, while senior right fielder Grant Smiskey and sophomore third baseman Isaac Crawford each collected four hits over the course of the two contests.

Back on the road, the Lady Cards (3-4, 3-1 Big Rivers Conference) headed west to face the Raiders (3-5, 1-3 BRC), hoping for a sweep of the season series.

Chi-Hi started off strong, plating at least one run in each of the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead, but a grand slam sparked five unanswered runs for Hudson, before a Cardinals rally began with one out in the seventh.

Senior second baseman Roz Twyman tallied three hits, including a game-tying solo homer, and fellow senior Makenna Bauer also collected three hits and drove in a pair of runs. Junior pitcher Willa Risinger and sophomore pitcher Violet Mcllquham fanned 5 batters apiece.

4/17/25 Baseball: River Falls 1, Chippewa Falls 0

In a classic pitcher's duel River Falls(5-0, 2-0) edged out Chippewa Falls(3-2-1, 0-2), 1-0, completing a two game sweep of the Cards for the week.

CF Junior, Brady Smith, battled Nebraska-bound RF Senior, Auden Pankonin, every bit of the way, but the Wildcats were able to capitalize on a lead off walk to Landon Mc Quade in the top of the 7th and pinch runner, Quentin Anderson, was able to score the game's only run on a Colten Maves single.

4/12/25 Softball: McDonell Macks 9, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser 0

After their bats came alive in the seventh inning the previous night in Cumberland, it was another road trip for the Macks (3-1, 1-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference), who faced strong starting pitching from the Bulldogs (1-3, 0-1 Heart O'North Conference).

In a pitchers' duel, the teams traded scoreless innings for the majority of the contest, until McDonell finally broke through with a lone run in the sixth. The top of the Chetek-Weyerhaeuser order was unable to answer, and once again the Macks' bats exploded in the final frame, plating eight runs to notch a third straight win.

Junior pitcher Cael Holm struck out five Bulldogs while pitching five scoreless innings, and senior shortstop Cooper Mittermeyer reached base all four times he came to the plate, tallying two hits and drawing two walks.

4/11/25 Softball: Baldwin-Woodville 11, McDonell Lady Macks 7

After waiting another week between games, the Lady Macks (2-1, 0-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) hit the road west to face the Blackhawks (3-1, 2-0 Middle Border Conference). McDonell game out of the gate hot, sending all nine batters to the plate in the top of the first and plating five runs.

The home team responded with 11 consecutive runs of their own, and a late rally by the Lady Macks came up a bit short.

Sophomore Rylie Christianson clubbed a solo home for the second game in a row and also pitched well in relief, while fellow sophomores Kelsey Bremness and Claire Ruf each collected two hits.

4/10/25 Softball: McDonell Macks 10, Stanley-Boyd 0 (5 innings)

After dropping a heartbreaker on the road in a walk-off on Tuesday night, it was finally time for the home opener for the Macks (1-1, 1-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference), who came out of the gate strong against the Orioles (1-3, 1-1 WCC), plating 4 runs in the bottom of the first.

Backed by a sparkling starting pitching performance and some slick fielding despite the rain, McDonell continued to extend their lead throughout the contest, eventually ending the game early in run-rule fashion.

Junior pitcher Cael Holm walked the leadoff batter in the first and then settled into a strong performance, striking out five. Senior left fielder Alan Meinen led the team with two RBI.

4/8/25 Softball: Chippewa Falls 2, Eau Claire North 1

The Lady Cards(1-1, 1-0) came out on top in a tremendous pitcher's duel between Chippewa Falls junior, Willa Risinger, and Eau Claire North(0-5, 01) senior, Ally Quashnick, who struck out 11.

All the scoring came from two home runs, the first of which came from CF junior catcher, Lauren Shepherd, who blasted out an 0-2 pitch with a runner on in the top of the first. Quashnick responded later with a solo HR of her own for North to end the scoring.

4/3/25 Softball: Marshfield 6, Chippewa Falls 2

On the road in their season opener, the Lady Cards (0-1, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) headed east to face the Tigers (3-1, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference). After falling behind early, Chi-Hi settled into the game and came within a play at the plate of tying it in the fifth.

The home team responded with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th and 6th innings, and though the Lady Cards brought the tying run to the plate in the final frame, they were unable to complete the comeback.

Senior second baseman Roz Twyman tallied three singles and a double in a 4-for-4 performance, while junior pitcher Willa Risinger struck out 7 in a strong season debut.
