1/18/25 Basketball: Bloomer 38, McDonell Macks 35

On the road against a top-shelf opponent for the third time in five days, the Macks (10-5, 3-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went back and forth in a hard-nosed, defensive struggle with the Blackhawks (7-3, 4-1 WCC).

For the majority of the contest, both teams played with a two possession lead or less, with outside shooting struggles and foul trouble plaguing McDonell for much of the game. In the second half, Bloomer found their inside scoring punch, and did just enough to keep the game out of reach in the final seconds.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior center Mason Busse was a powerhouse in the paint, ripping down rebounds and playing lights out defense on Bloomer's top scorer, while also pacing the Macks offensive attack with 12 points.

1/19/25 CVTW: Eau Claire, Near & Farm: Art Exhibit by Heidi Schreiner

                                                                    Chippewa Valley This Week

Heidi Schreiner

Using oils, Eau Claire artist, Heidi Schreiner, paints expressively featuring subjects like animals, people, and coffee cups. Schreiner finds beauty, humor, and drama in scenes and settings others might just shrug off as "ordinary." She aims to capture that magic moment that art and life come together. Schreiner believes we each crave a deep connection with other people, so that's what she pursues. With many of her paintings on display on the third floor of the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library through March 3rd, we caught up with her at the reception held there this past Thursday night.

1/17/25 Basketball: Eau Claire Regis 72, McDonell Lady Macks 45

In another battle for first place in the conference standings, the Lady Macks (7-8, 5-2 Western Cloverbelt Conference) went back-and forth with Regis for much of the first half, but foul trouble and a late surge by the Ramblers (13-4, 6-1 WCC) was enough to give the visitors a lead they would never relinquish.

In the second half, Regis continued to press their advantage as the Lady Macks' shots refused to fall, and the Ramblers rolled their way to a road victory, splitting the season series with McDonell as each team won on their opponent's home court.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Claire Ruf was one of the night's highlights, as she scored from beyond the arc, in the paint, and at the line, leading the team with 23 points.
