8/23/26 CVTW: Aylen Bain Sherman Creek Memorial Dedication
Chippewa Valley This Week
A new set of interpretive signs along the trails of Sherman Creek Park in the Eau Claire county Town of Union were unveiled August 21st as a lasting memorial for Aylen Bain, an Altoona High School graduate who died unexpectedly in 2024 while a first-year student at UW-Madison. Aylen's remembered as a nature lover who grew up near Sherman Creek Park, a 30-acre woodland featuring walking trails and bridges crossing Sherman Creek, which meanders through the park. You'll hear an interview with Jen Bain, Aylen's mom and a 4th-grade teacher in the Altoona School District. From Friday's dedication ceremony you'll from Bain; Barb Kleist, chair of the Town of Union Park Commission; Abbie Statz; Dean Kallenbach, Vice Chair of theTown of Union Park Commission; retired Science teacher, Scott Thiel; and Sherman Creek Elementary School Principal, Alicia Kirkman.
Plus, Toni Mattson tells us about Tracy Latourrette, Colorado's first female fighter pilot, and the keynote speaker for Trinity Equestrian Center's "Strength in Service Summit" Sept. 12th at The Eau Claire Event District.

8/21/26 Football: Eau Claire Regis 59, McDonell Macks 12
The Macks(0-1) struck first on a 77-yard touchdown pass from Nathan Boggess to Luke Anderson. Then after three Regis(1-0) TD's put the Ramblers up 21-6 Anderson pulled the Macks within nine when he and Boggess combined a 62-yard TD pass. The Ramblers went on to score the final 38 points of the night on their way to a 59-12 victory.

8/20/26 Football: Chippewa Falls 50, DC Everest 22
Ready to begin their 2026 campaign, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) opened up the year with a non-conference matchup, hoping to take their third in a row from DC Everest.
The Evergreens (0-1, 0-0 Wisconsin Valley Conference) garnered a turnover on the first play from scrimmage, but Chi-Hi answered with 25 straight points, setting the tone for the night.
Consistent defense that took advantage of miscues, strong play in the trenches, and a host of contributions from a backfield that rushed for well over 400 yards helped the Cards reach the half century mark in front of a jubilant home crowd at Dorais Field.
Senior Talen Shilts led the way on offense, rushing for 3 scores on the night, while junior Ryan Zenner was an absolute force on D.
