On the road for their season opener, the Macks (1-0, 0-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) built an early double-digit lead, but watched it evaporate against the long and talented Vikings (0-1, 0-0 Dunn-St. Croix), who fought back and took a two-point advantage into halftime.
After the break, Colfax scored the first seven points, as McDonell went over 5 minutes into the second half without scoring. Patience prevailed, however, as the veteran Macks squad used hassling pressure defense and hustle plays to eliminate the deficit and eventually build a double-digit lead once again, this time carrying it through to the finish.

After jumping out to a 6-0 lead in their first game of the season, the Macks(0-1) struggled mightily with turnovers in getting outscored the rest of the half, 34-11.
After coming out strong in the 2nd half and cutting Eau Claire North's(2-0) lead to 12, the Huskies pushed it back to 17 at 41-24, before the Macks went on an 18-2 run drawing within one at 43-42. The Huskies then scored the final 20 points of the game in winning 62-42.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sr., Kendell Hepfler and So., Anne Siegenthaler led the way with 9 points a piece, while So., Claire Ruf, added 8, all in the 2nd half.
In their home and season opener, the Chippewa Falls Lady Cardinals (0-1, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) withstood an opening run by the Raiders (1-1, 0-0 Great Northern Conference), then fought back to take the lead.
A young and talented Medford roster, however, responded with a 14-0 run and never really looked back, as they took advantage of a Chi-Hi team still struggling to get healthy early in the season. Despite foul trouble and a limited number of players available overall, the Lady Cards hustled and battled throughout, but couldn't quite get within striking distance as they dealt with the constant pressure defense of the Raiders.
