The McDonell Central Macks welcomed back Mark Maloney as their new Head Coach by scoring nine TDs in a 62-8 win at Greenwood. The Macks scored seven offensive TDs, one on defense, and one on special teams. They led 40-0 at the half.
Back at home for the first time in the 2022 season, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (2-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) jumped out to a quick 14-0 advantage over the visiting Evergreens (1-1, 0-0 Valley Football Association), who proved their mettle and refused to go away, fighting back to a tie twice in the second half.
After a bit of an up and down start, however, the Chi-Hi offense found a rhythm and scored touchdowns on two critical drives to put the game out of reach.

On the road to begin their 2022 campaign, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-0, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) established the run early against the Vikings (0-1, 0-0 Mississippi Valley Conference), a program with an outstanding tradition and a chip on their collective shoulder after missing the playoffs in 2021.
After blanking Holmen for the first two quarters, in the second half Chi-Hi picked up where they left off, cruising to an impressive victory on opening night.
