12/16/24 Basketball: Ladysmith 58, McDonell Macks 50
On the road for another tough non-conference test, the Macks (3-4, 1-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) stayed close early against the senior-laden Lumberjacks (5-1, 3-0 Heart O' North Conference), but fell a few possessions behind to close the first half.
After halftime, the Macks closed to within four points, only to have Ladysmith go on a run of their own. McDonell later cut the deficit to a single possession, but once again the veteran Lumberjacks roster responded, holding the Macks at bay until the final buzzer.

Chippewa Valley This Week
State Rep. Jodi Emerson(D-Eau Claire) applauds Chippewa Valley Health Cooperative's efforts to restore hospital services in the Chippewa Valley and urges legislative action on the release of approved funding. Plus, Chippewa county is pushing for a Psychiatric hospital. Meanwhile, we bring back a portion of World Relief Community Engagement Specialist, Jodi Jewell's answer from our 11/17 show where she defines who a refugee is and explains the incredibly thorough vetting process they go through in response to concerns voiced this week by Rep. Tom Tiffany(R-WI) over refugee resettlement going on in Marathon county. Finally, Caleb Svendsen talks with the Coordinator of the Eau Claire Area School District Homeless Program, Dani Graham, as our "60 Ways in 60 Days" fundraising campaign for Feed My People Food bank in Eau Claire wraps up.

12/13/24 Basketball: River Falls 65, Chippewa Falls Boys 39
Two Collin Nichols 3-pointers drew the Cards(0-4,0-2) within one at 11-10, as the first half remained close until River Falls(2-1, 1-1) scored the last six points to take a 27-17 lead into intermission. In the 2nd half the Cards cut RF's 20-point lead to 14, before both teams emptied their benches as the Wildcats went on to a 65-39 win.
Collin Nichols shot 4 of 6 from long-range in netting a team-high 15 points and 6 rebounds, while improving his 3-point shooting to 50% for the season hitting 10 of his 20 attempts.

12/12/24 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 66, Bloomer 45
On the road for their second conference contest, the Lady Macks (3-3, 2-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) used energetic, aggressive defense to fuel a late first half run against the young and talented Blackhawks (6-2, 1-2 WCC), who struggled to effectively run their offense against the McDonell press.
After the break, the Lady Macks kept their foot on the gas, leading to their highest offensive output of the season and a perfect early start to conference play.
WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Claire Ruf was a standout on both ends of the floor as she poured in a career-high 24 points, while fellow sophomore guard/forward Emily Hartman provided a huge spark off the bench - tallying a career-high of her own with 13 - and sophomore guard Anne Siegenthaler,despite battling foul trouble, was the third Lady Macks player in double figures, scoring 10.
