1/22/26 Basketball: Fall Creek 51, McDonell 44

On the road against one of the conference's best, the Macks (7-7, 2-5 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out of the gate well, but tenacious defense from the state-ranked Crickets (9-2, 5-1 WCC), trimmed the lead to within two possessions by the half.

Though scoring opportunities weren't easy to come by, McDonell matched Fall Creek blow for blow throughout the second half, but couldn't quite hold on down the stretch.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Brennan Loiselle-Christianson helped get the Macks off to a hot start and finished with a game-high 17 points, while senior Karson Galvez added eight. Fellow senior guard Cael Holm was all-out-effort on the offensive glass, and also tallied seven points on the night.

1/20/26 Basketball: Menomonie 64, Chippewa Falls 53

In a game marked by eleven lead changes and three ties, Menomonie(10-3, 4-2) never looked back after going on a 9-0 run after the game was tied at 31. The closest Chippewa Falls(3-10, 2-5) got after that was 58-53 after back-to-back 3's by Drew Thornton and Owen Munson, but those proved to be the Cards last points of the night.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch: Owen Munson again led the Cards in scoring with 21. Connor Kolinski stepped up big with 14 points and some hard-nosed D, while Conrad Gebauer added 7 points and 6 boards.

The seesaw battle continued in a 2nd half marked by seven ties, the last of which was at 53 apiece. The Cards then scored the final five points to win their second straight game, 58-53.

1/18/26 CVTW: We're All the Same in Different Ways--Tami Nowak

                                                              Chippewa Valley This Week

In her book, "We're All the Same in Different Ways: A Story About Diversity and Acceptance," Eau Claire author, Tami Nowak, says, "Somewhere outside of our differences is the ability to live joyfully and abundantly by accepting one another as God made us." Nowak says the book, a January gift offer from WWIB Inc. for a suggested gift of $45 or more, is about overcoming barriers through our children, while maintaining grace and dignity to all. She says "God doesn't make mistakes; he makes us all uniquely for his purpose."

1/16/26 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 62, Fall Creek 57

Now on their second way through the conference gauntlet, the Lady Macks (12-2, 8-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) garnered an early lead but then quickly fell behind the Crickets (6-6, 4-4 WCC), who seemingly couldn't miss for an extended stretch of the first half as they built an 11-point advantage.

McDonell slowly but surely battled back into contention, eventually overtaking Fall Creek and holding a one possession lead at halftime. And early surge to start the second half built an 11-point advantage of their own, but the Lady Macks let the Crickets come as close as two, pulled away to a double-digit lead again, almost gave it up in the closing minutes, and finally iced the game late to stay unbeaten in conference play.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard/forward Claire Ruf started the second half with a flurry of 14 straight points and ended the night with a game-high 24, while junior forward Anne Siegenthaler battled foul trouble but still scored fourteen, 12 of which were for McDonell. Juniors Rylie Christianson and Emily Hartman were on the fringe of double figures, tallying nine apiece.

1/12/26 Basketball: McDonell Macks 67, Alma Center Lincoln 51

On the road to start a busy week, the Macks (7-3, 2-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) fell behind by a couple possessions early, but then roared out ahead of the Hornets (6-3, 5-2 Dairyland Conference), who fell behind by 16 at the break.

In the second half, Lincoln made a push and came within single digits, bringing their crowd to life, but the Macks steadily rebuilt the lead and cruised to a non-conference victory.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior forward Brennan Loiselle-Christianson had an explosive first half, including a pair of dunks, and scored a game-high 21 on the night, while senior Cael Holm tallied all 12 of his points from beyond the arc. Fellow senior Karson Galvez was the third Macks player in double digits, finishing with 10.

1/9/26 Basketball: Chippewa Falls 61, Eau Claire North 60

Down 29-23 at the half Chippewa Falls(2-7, 1-3) tied the game at 38 only to see Eau Claire North(3-6, 0-3) go on a 9-0 run to grab a 47-38 lead.  The Cards fought back to grab the lead at 52-51, and eventually led 59-53. A basket and two free throws pulled the North within two, but Kael Dillenbeck's two free throws with less than five seconds sealed the win for the Cards despite a Huskies 3-pointer at the buzzer.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Owen Munson was brilliant in leading the Cards with 32 points, including seven 3's and a perfect 8-8 at the line. Grant Von Haden came on strong late with 11 huge points in the win.

1/8/26 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 46, Elk Mound 44

After over a week off, the Lady Macks (10-2, 6-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) found themselves in a battle for first place in the conference with the Mounders (8-4, 4-2 WCC), who came into the contest having won three of their last four games.

McDonell saw an early lead slip away right before the half, and in the second Elk Mound came close to pulling away. The Lady Macks stayed strong, however, hitting multiple big shots while continuing to play aggressive defense. A last-second defensive stand proved to be the difference, as McDonell notched their tenth consecutive victory.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior guard/forward Claire Ruf hit a trio of threes and finished with with 13 points, while fellow juniors Anne and Erin Siegenthaler scored eight apiece. Junior Kelsey Bremness played stellar defense and added seven points of her own, as eight different players scored for McDonell.
