1/8/24 Basketball: McDonell Macks 65, Whitehall 45

In their first true road game of the season, the Macks (8-2, 4-1 Western Cloverbelt Conference) came out of the gate hot against the Norse (8-3, 4-0 Dairyland - Large Conference), who quickly found themselves trailing by multiple possessions.

Though Whitehall found the range from three as the half continued, McDonell continued to hold them at bay, and an early surge after the break helped put the game thoroughly out of reach and gave the young Macks their fifth victory in a row.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Sophomore guard Cael Holm notched 13 of his game-high 17 points in a hot-shooting first half, while junior guard Jordan Sikora added 10 points and senior center Miles Flanagan chipped in nine, along with another strong effort on the boards.

                                                                 Chippewa Valley This Week

Currently Eau Claire county has over 100 children in out-of-home foster care. The county's Family Services Manager for the Alternate(Foster) Care Program, Nicholas Stabenow-Schneider, answers many questions about the program ranging from why kids need foster care to what do parents need to do to become licensed to do foster care. Stabenow-Schneider says Eau Claire county is always looking to add additional foster homes. He says those looking for more information should contact Resource Specialist, Christa Dutter, at 715-839-6923 or email her at christa.dutter@eauclairecounty.gov.

1/4/24 Basketball: McDonell Lady Macks 64, Fall Creek 44

In their first game of 2024, the Lady Macks (13-0, 6-0 Western Cloverbelt Conference) faced off against the talented Crickets (9-3, 5-1 WCC) in a game that featured two state-ranked teams in Division 4.

Right away, McDonell continued their trend of jumping out to an early lead, as they tallied the game's first 13 points. Though Fall Creek fought back and the Lady Macks battled some foul trouble, the McDonell squad was able to keep their opponent mostly at arm's length throughout the contest, as they executed their game plan, remained unbeaten, and took over sole possession of first place in the conference at the halfway point of the season.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior point guard Emily Cooper rained in four threes and finished with a game-high 20 points, while freshman guard EllaMay Cooper was strong at the line down the stretch and tallied 15. Freshman forward Anne Siegenthaler played strong defense and scored 10 points, while senior center Aubrey Dorn, who scored 6 points, truly tilted the game with her tireless effort rebounding and on defense
