8/24/23 Football: DC Everest 24, Chi-Hi 14

On the road for the first time this season, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (1-1, 0-0 Big Rivers Conference) fell behind early against the Evergreens (2-0, 0-0 Valley Football Association), but took full advantage of an errant pass to tie the game at seven.

Late in the second quarter, DC Everest punched in a go-ahead score, but gave momentum right back to the Cards after the half with yet another interception, this one returned for a touchdown to tie the game at 14. After that turnover, however, the home team dominated time of possession and pulled away for the non-conference victory.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior DB Jack Zwiefelhofer played a whale of a game, recording two interceptions, the first leading to the only Chi-Hi points of the first half, and the second a pick six.

Eau Claire native Justinsuperstar(Johnson) tells the love story of his parents, Brian and Randi Johnson of Eau Claire, in his very personal documentary, "Mom and Dad's Nipple Factory," making its Eau Claire premiere, Aug. 29th at 6:30pm at the Pable Center. When Randi is diagnosed with breast cancer, her husband Brian, an introverted serial entrepreneur and tinkerer, embarks on a journey to restore her that is anything but ordinary. Following her successful mastectomy of one breast and later, an innovative breast reconstruction process, Brian realizes the love of his life is still feeling incomplete. Learning from everyone he can inside their small Wisconsin town and beyond, starting with the local dentist, he launches a project to build her the perfect matching nipple - a project that neither of them realizes has the power to change thousands of lives.
