10/24/25 WIAA Division 1 Playoff Football: #1 Waunakee 28, #8 Chippewa Falls 21 (OT)

After punching their ticket to the postseason, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (4-6, 3-4 Big Rivers Conference) drew an 8 seed in the tournament, meaning they faced a long road trip and a battle with a perennial powerhouse in Waunakee.

The Warriors (10-0, 7-0 Badger - Large Conference) went three and out on their opening possession, but snatched some momentum back after a special teams penalty gave them a first down. Shortly thereafter, a Waunakee fumble turned the tide back the way of the Cardinals, who later scored the game's opening touchdown and would never trail in regulation.

After a back-and-forth contest, the game dramatically entered an extra frame, and the home team did just enough in overtime to prevent a stunning upset. The Cardinals' season came to an end, but their effort undoubtedly earned the respect of everyone who witnessed it.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Junior Talen Shilts led the way on offense, rushing for a career-high 200 yards on the night, while sophomore Ryan Zenner was a force on D.

In their playoff opener, the McDonell Macks (8-1, 6-1 North Central - East Conference) got an early stop and promptly scored on their first play from scrimmage - and never looked back.

The Trojans (5-5, 4-3 North Central - West Conference) battled, but could not keep pace with the potent McDonell attack, as multiple players scored two or more touchdowns.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior RB Dawson Moulton scored twice on the ground and caught a touchdown pass while also recording an interception, and fellow senior RB/LB Eli Stepp also tallied two rushing TDs. Senior QB Cael Holm threw for 4 touchdowns, three of them to junior WR Luke Andersen..

10/17/25 Football: Chippewa Falls 36, Menomonie 6

On the road in Williams Stadium, where they had not won since 2007, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (4-5, 3-4 Big Rivers Conference) faced not only the regular season and conference finale, but also a do-or-die game for their postseason chances.

The Mustangs (4-5, 2-5 BRC), moved the ball effectively early in the contest and eventually scored the game's first touchdown to taka a 6-0 lead. The Cards battled back, knotting the game at six heading into halftime, with Menomonie set to receive the second half kick.

In the third quarter, however, the contest turned dramatically, as Chi-Hi capitalized on an early turnover and began to dominate on the ground, pitching a shutout in the second half and scoring 30 additional unanswered points to notch a resounding victory in one of the state's oldest rivalries.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Noah King, typically a standout on the offensive line, made multiple splash plays on defense as well, while junior Talen Shilts tallied a trio of touchdowns, all in the second half.

10/10/25 Football: Hudson 28, Chippewa Falls 15

At Dorais Field for the regular season home finale, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (3-5, 2-4 Big Rivers Conference) moved the ball on their first drive, but punted in plus territory, giving way to a Hudson offense that promptly began a lengthy drive of their own, capped off with the game's first score.

The Raiders (7-1, 5-1 BRC), still vying for a conference championship, were then handed a gift when Chi-Hi fumbled deep in their own territory. The visitors capitalized, and were soon up 14-0, stretching the advantage to 21-0 before a late Cardinals score pulled them closer.

In the second half, the Cards tightened up on D, but were unable to get a final stop in the fourth, as they saw a 2-game win streak come to a close.

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
Senior Collin Clary did a little - and sometimes a lot - of everything on the night, making impact plays as a punter, wildcat QB, and pass rusher.

10/3/25 Football: Chippewa Falls 35, D.C. Everest 14

After another long bus ride, the Chippewa Falls Cardinals (3-4, 2-3 Big Rivers Conference) again started out hot, scoring the game's first fourteen points to silence the Homecoming crowd at Stiehm Stadium.

The Evergreens (4-3, 4-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference), who had won four straight games, responded with two long scoring drives to come within a touchdown at the half, but couldn't get out of their own way with penalties and turnovers. After the break, Chi-Hi defense pitched a second half shutout as the Cards kept themselves in the playoff hunt

WOGO "RadioActive" Award Watch:
For a second straight week, senior RB/WR Jaylyn Smith tallied a hat trick of touchdowns, scoring twice on the ground and a third time on a TD reception, while also picking off a pass on defense.
